The Seychelles is set to become the stage for one of the world’s most prestigious carnivals and Smile country will be represented! A few select members of the Cape Minstrel groups are counting the days before heading off to the island state to strut their colourful stuff. The nine members, from different groups, have been handpicked to take part in the three-day international event in Victoria next month.
Group leader Kader Miller refers to the men as the “Springboks” of the Cape Minstrels. The group will be fully sponsored by the Seychelles Tourism Board, that have hosted South African delegations since 2011.
Miller says it’s a wonderful opportunity for youngsters who will probably never travel overseas to broaden their horisons. “They also become role models for their communities”.
