Red Roses at Robben Island

Fifteen couples from across the country will declare their love and tie the knot at Robben Island on Valentine’s day.

The mass wedding ceremony has become a highlight on this historic island’s calendar. One of the excited couples who will be  “goin’ to the chapel” is Peter Daniels and Christien Constable. Says Peter, a local parliamentary official: “Both being romantic at heart, Christien was smitten by the idea of getting married overseas and wanted something different and special. Robben Island is the perfect place to seal our love, on the day of lover and lovers, nogal”.

The newly-weds will be treated to a combined wedding reception after having exchanged their vows. A special guest will be attending these festivities – none other than Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba.
