To celebrate the introduction of Gerald Petersen’s new “All 80s Show”, which brings you two hours of the hottest music from the big-hair decade every night of the week between 6 and 8 pm, we’re asking you to vote for your favourite music video from the golden era of MTV.
When MTV premiered on the 1st of August 1981, the new channel wasn’t exactly spoiled for choice. Most of the videos they had were low-budget affairs shot quickly by superstars like Rod Stewart and the Rolling Stones. Record labels quickly realized though that the new channel had an incredible ability to sell records. Just two years later, Michael Jackson released Thriller and music videos became an exciting new form of pop art, mesmerising millions of music lovers across the globe.
