This week Lizma and Lindy celebrate the adoption of adorable Snuggles.
Mpho Hlalele, the Assistant General Manager of the Animal Anti-Cruelty League Cape Town, also introduces them to Missy – a friendly, feisty dog with quite a story.
Missy was brought to the Bellville branch of the AACL as a stray in June. She had apparently been in a car accident and although in a lot of pain, her tail was still wagging while her gentle eyes were pleading for help. After extensive medical examinations it was established that she had a front leg fracture as well as a dislocated shoulder. Sadly her injuries were so severe that her one front leg had to be fully amputated.
Through all of this, Missy stayed a happy and friendly dog, never letting her pain and discomfort get the better of her.
She recuperated in the adoptions office of the AACL, where she snuggled deep into the hearts of everybody. When she was well enough, she was moved to the kennels where she now spends her days lazing in the sun or running around and playing with the other dogs – as if she still has all four her limbs.
Missy is very calm and gentle and will be a wonderful companion dog or family pet. She’s a small Collie mix; approximately 2 years old; good with cats and gets on very well with other dogs.
Missy reminds us that nothing should ever stop you from enjoying life to the fullest. It will be great to give her a special forever home that she can call her own.
