Furry Tales

Mickey with owners

Meet the new parents and a feisty three-legged friend called Freeway

Great news: Another Smile Furry Tale had a happy end when Minette and Charl Baard from Somerset West adopted sweet little Mickey. (You can see the happy family on the photo above.)

Lindy and Lizma also share the extraordinary Furry Tale of Freeway – a story that is testament to the strong survival spirit Mother Nature provides. This special dog was hit by a car and left for dead on the N2 a few years ago but kept on fighting despite all the odds stacked against him. His lust for life pulled him through difficult times – including the amputation of one of his legs.

Freeway would fit just perfectly in an active family with older kids. He is very good with female dogs but not a cat lover at all. Freeway is currently being fostered in a loving but very busy home and would thrive on a more personal touch. This  mixed breed is between five and six years old. His foster mum describes him as loving, playful and protective. What more do you want?

If you’re interested in adopting Freeway or know someone who might be, please contact Denay Saunders from Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre on
